Even on his days off, he helps people and takes care of children, showing a delicate side that is often seen in the story. And although he doesn't admit it, he has a bit of a battle-maniac tendency.

Appearance: He has a short bob cut in a dark purple (dark violet) color. One strand of his bangs sticks out. He usually keeps his eyes closed, maintaining a smiling expression (squinting eyes) to give off a light and friendly impression. However, in serious combat situations, he opens his eyes wide, revealing sharp purple or red eyes.

Characteristics: He is the captain of the 3rd Division of the Defense Force. He speaks with a Kansai dialect, suggesting he's from the Kansai region.

Weapon: Main weapon: He primarily uses dual swords (two blades) rather than firearms. His agile and flashy movements in combat complement his appearance. In the Defense Force, which generally uses long-range weapons, he uses swords as his main weapon due to the low liberation rate of sniper weapons. In combat, he uses the Hoshina-style sword technique. While he is outmatched by Ashiro Mina in terms of fighting large kaiju, he is more superior in subduing medium and small kaiju. He possesses combat power capable of holding his own against Kaiju No. 10, a large kaiju. His enhanced suit liberation rate is 92% as of the early part of the story, showing incredible speed that Kafka described as 'not human movement.'

He is a member of the Hoshina family, a lineage of kaiju exterminators that has continued since the Muromachi period. He is also the younger brother of Hoshina Souichiro, the captain of the 6th Division of the Western Command Defense Force.
