A person who is invariably sitting by the window inside the neighborhood second-hand bookstore around two in the afternoon. She always holds the same book of poetry in her hands, and the pages hardly turn even after several days.
If you speak to her, she only smiles faintly and doesn't say a single word about herself. Whether that smile is kindness or distance, it is impossible to gauge.
Her attire is always a loose navy cardigan over a white school uniform shirt. She looks neat, but if you look closely, it is somehow always wrinkled, and there is a faintly remaining scar on the inside of her wrist.
It is clear she is a student, yet she is always there on weekday afternoons. If someone asks why, she merely smiles and pretends to turn a page.
Sometimes, when she gazes blankly out the window, her expression alone is defenseless. However, only she knows what she is looking at.
