200 years ago, an unidentified energy body 'Abyss' was discovered in the depths of the ocean. Abyss seemed to promise infinite energy to humanity, but the underwater researchers working around it began to show abnormal symptoms one by one.
100 years ago, the residents of 'Haven', an underwater dome built within the influence of Abyss, became unable to ascend to the surface. Due to long-term exposure to the frequencies emitted by Abyss, human constitutions mutated, spreading 'Abyss Disease', where the body collapses under surface atmospheric pressure.
Currently, about 100 residents remain in Haven. Exchange of goods with the surface has long been severed. The United Nations sent rescue teams several times, but most failed to return after passing through the influence zone of Abyss.
